The second one is Martin, another cyclist we met on the way to Quebec. he was also riding across Canada. And i would like to mention that one of his hobbies was reading the dictionnary.
We past there two or three weeks after a forest fire happened in northern ontario. The is really nothing left for kilometers and we could stil really smell the burning wood three weeks after that fire happened. Crazy!!
We left Winnipeg on a heavy rain and thunderstorm afternoon, it had been like that for the three days we have been there, but we decided to go anyway.... Two hours or so after we left, just enough time to be kind of in the middle of nowhere the sky was bright ahead of us but a crazy black clouds coming at us. There was no way we could go fast enough not to be caught by the storm. Every minute it was closer and at one point it was all silence, no wind at all just this really black sky now on top of our heads. We finally found a gas sation to shelter while the storm was there, but we ended up staying there all evening because it was a really nasty storm. We learned later it was a small tornado!
Welcome on Yellow brick road.
Hey everyone! I tought i would upload a couple of pictures, i know we haven't been really faithful writing this blog so at least here are some pictures.
So this is northern ontario and its million lakes. Just really perfect because we had really really hot weather there and this picture is black fox lake (in my opinion it should be called the black fly lake) and we stopped by and swam to that little island in the middle.

black flies and deer flies
ONTARIO!!!!! Here we are in one of the most beautiful places we've seen yet. It's been a while since our last post, so we have a lot to share. Manitoba was great and we stayed with awesome people. The wind in Manitoba was really strong, it was really hard to bike in. For about a week, the south south- east wind was about 45km an hour, sometimes reaching 70-75 km. Although the weather was not on our side we kept our spirits up. We finally reached Winnipeg last Tuesday and stayed at Charlie and Ruth Levasseur the first night. After a trip to the worst bike shop in the world the next day, we stayed at Janie, Tim and Holly's. They were unbelievably generous, kind, letting us stay for three nights. Janie was nice enough to donate the food in her fridge into our bellies. But we think she soon regreted that decision when she realized she was hosting two gorillas... We were really excited to go but perhaps jumped the gun a little bit and ended up leaving in one of the worst thunderstorms of the year. By 7pm that night we were caught in the thunderstorm with no place to stay. Raindrops the size of a marble were falling on our heads. With a tornado warning and the roads closed ahead of us we were forced to stay in a motel, owned by a witch. She really took advantage of our situation. Things are better now. the weather is good, we are roasting again and we see some incredible wildlife. So far we've seen coyotes, fox, deer, bald eagles, a wolf, a painted turtle, a snake and I (Annie) got to see A BEAR!!!! Last night was spent under a bridge in Sioux Narrows, it was a really nice place, right by the Lake of the woods. It is amazingly beautiful. We met a local and she said they were drinking right from the lake. We kind of had company for a part of the night because across the chanel was a karaoke bar that went late into the night giving us all the godamn hits.. Today, we biked 45 km and are staying at a fishing and hunting lodge near Minnesota. All day, Peter was really anxious to jump from something really high into water, Annie deciding the bridge was too STUPID the water level being lower than usual. Annie forced Peter to keep biking. But then, some rocks caught his eye on a nearby lake. We skinny dipped across the lake and scoped out the possible jumping spots. Even though the water was less than 3 feet deep, Peter jumped head first from a 15 meters. Just kidding!!! He did however had a good and safe time. We are planing to take a break day tomorrow because of the risks of thunder showers.. That's it for now!!! Hope you are all doing well.
